wpid drive movie image ryan gosling slice 01 Red Band Trailer for DRIVE Starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan

FilmDistrict has released the red band trailer for Drive that premiered today at Comic-Con.  Matt raved about the trailer in his recap of the panel, and I wholeheartedly agree: a terrific tease for the film.  Everyone at Cannes and the LA Film Festival loved it.  It will screen again later tonight at Comic-Con, another place where I am not.  September 16 is the release date for us common folk.  Marking the days…

Ryan Gosling stars as a stunt driver who moonlights as a wheelman for criminals.  When he agrees to help the husband of his beautiful neighbor (Carey Mulligan), matters go awry and he must protect the neighbor and her son.  Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks also star in Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.  Watch the trailer after the jump.

When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best—Drive!

wpid a good old fashioned orgy poster image slice Trailer for A GOOD OLD FASHIONED ORGY Starring Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte

The trailer for writers/directors Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck’s comedy A Good Old Fashioned Orgy is now available online. Starring Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, Lucy Punch, Leslie Bibb, Lindsay Sloane, Tyler Labine, and Lake Bell, the film tells the story of a 30 year-old man/child (Sudeikis) who decides to throw one last bash at the Hampton residence his parents are on the verge of selling. Judging from the trailer, the pic almost looks like an uninterrupted barrage of partying and general immaturity. In short, I’m looking forward to it. That said, I can’t help but wonder how I can get my hands on one of those “Labor Day Orgy” t-shirts.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer. A Good Old Fashioned Orgy opens to select theaters this September 2nd.

wpid dream house daniel craig rachel weisz slice DREAM HOUSE Trailer [Updated with New Images]

The trailer for Oscar-nominated director Jim Sheridan’s (In the Name of the Father) Dream House has landed online. Starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Naomi Watts, the film centers on a family who move into a new home only to discover that a brutal killing took place in the residence years before. After watching the cut, I’m convinced that it either gives too much away or is brilliant in its misdirection. Given the talent of those involved with the pic, I’m inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Dream House opens later this year on September 30th. [Update: We've been sent some new images from the film which you can find after the jump]

Click over to Apple to see the trailer in HD. We’ll update with an embeddable version as soon as it’s available.

Here’s the official synopsis for Dream House:

Some say that all houses have memories. For one man, his home is the place he would kill to forget. Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts star in Dream House, a suspense thriller about a family that unknowingly moves into a home where several grisly murders were committed…only to find themselves the killer’s next target.

Successful publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quit a job in New York City to relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town. But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived.

When Will investigates the tragedy, his only lead comes from Ann Paterson (Watts), a neighbor who was close to the family that died. As Will and Ann piece together the disturbing puzzle, they discover that the story of the last man to leave Will’s dream house will be just as horrifying to the one who came next.

wpid The Amazing Spider Man movie image slice First Trailer for THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN

The first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has gone online.  I’m torn between “What was the point?” and “Sigh.  This is what ‘gritty’ Spider-Man looks like.”  First off: daddy-issues.  How original.  Second, there’s not a sense of joy in any of this trailer.  I re-watched the trailer for Sam Raimi’s first film and while there’s certainly some melodrama and an emphasis on action, you also see that there’s a fun movie in there.  I’m not getting that from this trailer.  However, I am getting that director Marc Webb has probably played Mirror’s Edge.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  Hopefully what I see at Comic-Con on Friday will be more encouraging.  The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Rhys Ifans.  The Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3, 2012.

wpid slice381 Teaser Trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Judging by the box office, most of you may have seen the first teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises attached to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 this past weekend. But if you haven’t, or if you want to see it again (you do), the trailer has been officially released online. The teaser is made up of footage from Christopher Nolan’s first two entries in the franchise intercut with a tiny bit of new footage, including a couple of shots of Tom Hardy as Bane and a Lieutenant Gordon monologue.

It’s not really much, but I’m all for staying in the dark as long as possible. In essence, this is an announcement teaser letting everyone know that Nolan’s Batman trilogy ends next year, and it’s gonna be intense/bad ass/super cool. In that respect, this teaser trailer is a great success. Hit the jump to watch it yourself. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th, 2012.

Click over to the official Dark Knight Rises Facebook page to watch the trailer in HD.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy,

wpid friends with benefits slice New Red Band Trailer for FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS

Since it’s apparently the year of the sex buddy comedy, a new red band trailer for Friends with Benefits has been released. While I’m a fan of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, and quite enjoyed director Will Gluck’s Easy A, this movie just looks painfully unfunny. The newest red band trailer really doesn’t do much to change my mind. The highlights (ie. only amusing parts) are Emma Stone and Andy Samberg, but it seems they only appear for small cameo-ish roles. However, Hunter saw the film and enjoyed it—he’s even mentioned in the ad—so maybe it works better as a whole. But I’m not holding my breath.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Woody Harrelson, Patricia Clarkson and Richard Jenkins. Friends with Benefits opens July 22nd.

Here’s the trailer:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis) think it’s going to be easy to add the simple act of sex to their friendship, despite what Hollywood romantic comedies would have them believe. They soon discover however that getting physical really does always lead to complications.

wpid john carter movie poster slice 01 UK Teaser Trailer for JOHN CARTER

The UK teaser trailer for John Carter has landed online. I’m not exactly sure what to make of this film.  Some parts look incredibly cheesy (“You may be the only one who can save us!”) while others look like a good, old-fashioned adventure flick.  I hope its the latter because some of the designs are great  and the special effects look pretty sweet.  You can also click here for what Steve thought when he visited the editing bay.

Hit the jump to check out the UK teaser trailer.  The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Haden Church, and James Purefoy.  John Carter opens March 9, 2012. The US trailer is set to go online later today and if it’s different than this one we’ll update the story.

Here’s the official synopsis for John Carter:

From Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”–a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

wpid hugo cabret slice First Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s HUGO

It’s apparently official trailer day, as the first trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Hugo has just been released. The film, previously titled Hugo Cabret, marks the master director’s first foray into 3D as well as his first family-geared outing. I love the magical tone Scorsese’s conjured up here, and it looks cute, but I don’t necessarily get a grandiose feeling from this first trailer. It may be the incongruous rock music that plays over 2/3’s of it, or the director may simply not want to reveal too much too soon. Either way, it’s hard to deny that the prospect of Scorsese, one of the foremost authorities on the history of cinema, tooling around with native 3D is pretty damn exciting.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Chloe Moretz, Asa Butterfield, Jude Law, Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee and Sacha Baron Cohen. Hugo opens December 9th, 2011.

Click over to Apple to watch in HD. We’ll have the embed here as soon as it’s available.

Here’s the synopsis for Hugo:

Hugo tells the story of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key. Based on Brian Selznick’s award winning and imaginative New York Times bestseller, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, this magical tale is Academy Award-winner Martin Scorsese’s first film shot in 3D.

wpid Mary Elizabeth Winstead The Thing prequel movie image slice First Trailer for THE THING Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton

The trailer for Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.’s remake/prequel of The Thing has gone online.  The film shares the same title of the classic 1982 John Carpenter film but takes place before the events of that movie.  Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays paleontologist Kate Lloyd who works with a Norwegian scientific team that stumbles upon an ancient extraterrestrial ship in Antarctica.  Fans of the original know that it’s safe to assume that matters go downhill from there.  After watching this trailer, I’m have no idea what the new film brings to the table.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Joel Edgerton, Eric Christian Olsen, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.  The Thing opens October 14th.  Click here to read Steve’s set visit.

Video: ‘The Thing’ Movie Trailer

Here’s the official synopsis for The Thing:

Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty.  It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists.  The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being.  It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman.  In the thriller The Thing, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.

Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime.  Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago.  But it is about to wake up.

When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time.  And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.

wpid glee promo image slice 01 First Trailer for GLEE: THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE

The trailer for Glee: The 3D Concert Movie is now available online and it looks pretty much like I expected: Justin Bieber: Never Say Never with the cast of Glee substituted in. Directed by Kevin Tancharoen (Fame), the film will feature such iTunes friendly covers as: “Don’t Stop Believin’”, “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Raise Your Glass,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Lucky.” The pic also throws some original songs into the mix in the form of “Loser Like Me” and “Hell to the No!” (news which, I assume, means something to fans of the series).

Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Featuring series stars such as Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Dianna Agron, and Cory Monteith, Glee: The 3D Concert Movie opens its two-week theatrical engagement on August 12th.

Until an embed becomes available, you’ll need to click over to Apple to watch the trailer in HD.
